Current top sets or billets available at different aesthetic grades, which will continue to be updated. "Grading" is a complicated topic with a huge degree of subjectivity. The system used at Dunham Guitars involves depth of figure, localized color and grain patterns in the context of the larger piece (e.g. does it all "work" together?), and finishing potential. In order of increasing grade, they are: Standard, Premium, and Superior. Some builders and suppliers will only assign their highest grading to pieces with uniform figuring and color tone. In my opinion, this neglects "bigger picture" qualities of the piece that ultimately determine the aesthetic depth of the finished instrument.
